Logo or Graphic Recreation
Is your logo or graphic good enough quality to print well? This will depend upon a few things, but comes down to its resolution at the size you intend to print it. A vector graphic is a series of anchor points with paths running between them, this means it can be scaled to any size without any loss of quality. Vector graphics will usually be a filetype of EPS, PDF or AI, and if your files are vectors then we’ll have no problem working with them for any product you order.
Image files are different. They have a pixel resolution which dictates how large they can be printed, and you can see this resolution by viewing the Properties of the image file, or sometimes just by hovering over it with your cursor. It will show a width and height in pixels, eg 400 x 300. In printing, an image or graphic will print clearly if it is printed at 300ppi or 300dpi (pixels per inch or dots per inch) – below this resolution the image will become fuzzy and pixelated. You can sometimes go down to 250ppi before the quality degradation is noticeable to the eye, but below this the quality will fall steeply. To complicate things further, with large format printing like roller banners you can go as low as 160ppi as you view from further away – don’t worry if this is complicated, it’s why we offer a free professional design service on all products so we can give you help and advice.
If your logo or graphic is an image file and is too low resolution to use for what you need, we can often redraw or recreate it as a vector graphic which you can use for any purpose in the future. This fixed price service can only be used for logos and graphics which are fairly straightforward; files which are overly complicated aren’t practical for conversion. If you’re unsure whether your logo or graphic would be suitable for this service, send it to our studio by clicking here and we’ll take a look and let you know right away.
Examples of minimum image sizes for print:
- On a business card, letterhead or compliment slip your logo or graphic would be printed up to 75mm wide or high, so should be at least 900px on the longest side
- On a roller banner your logo or graphic might be printed at 750mm wide, so should be at least 4700px wide
Once converted, your logo or graphic will be supplied to you in vector formats EPS, PDF or AI and high resolution images formats PNG and JPEG.
Our image to vector graphic conversion service costs £20 per graphic plus VAT.
